Pioneering cryptocurrency journalist and former PaymentsSource staff writer Bailey Reutzel has officially joined CoinDesk as US editor.
One of the earliest writers to specialize in bitcoin and blockchain, Reutzel has covered a range of historic industry developments: from the rise of the first bitcoin ATMs to the later shift toward blockchain technology by financial incumbents.
Reutzel joins CoinDesk at a time when the news source is growing in size according to its global ambitions.
“Fearless and thought-provoking, Bailey will serve as a mentor to CoinDesk’s growing team of journalists, helping us chart a course as we seek to keep pace with a global phenomenon,” said Pete Rizzo, editor-in-chief at CoinDesk.
The hiring is the latest in CoinDesk’s continuing mission to bolster its editorial team, having doubled its New York staff in 2017, with plans to achieve similar growth in 2018 and beyond.
“With regulatory mayhem and scaling civil wars, this is an exciting time to be joining the industry’s leading news source,” said Reutzel.
In addition to her contributions to CoinDesk, Reutzel’s work has appeared in American Banker, The Parallax and Quartz, and she is now working on her first full-length book based on extensive reporting on US politics and culture.
