The four-time Grammy nominee is the latest celebrity from the music industry get involved with Bitcoin

The rapper announced she was giving out $1 million in Bitcoin through a Twitter post that received over 100,000 replies in 12 hours. The giveaway was a result of a Cash App partnership aimed at increasing Bitcoin & Cash App adoption. So far, it appears the promotional campaign was a success.

“Thee Hot Girl coach is OFFICIALLY on team @Cashapp!” the ‘Savage’ hitmaker posted. “To celebrate I’m giving $1 MILLION in Bitcoin to as many hotties as I can! Will be giving out this million units until its gone, so drop your $cashapp below w #BITCOINMEG to get a piece.”

Cash App is a mobile payment service built by Jack Dorsey’s financial service company Square. Dorsey, who is also the co-founder and chief executive of Twitter, commented on Meg’s post with a quote tweet.

Meg, who has had a breakout year in 2020, joins the likes of fellow rapper Juicy J and retired songwriter Logic. Hot Girl Meg, as she’s commonly known, recently had two number one hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

She posted a follow-up tweet hailing Bitcoin as a reliable and rewarding investment.

“Hotties Bitcoin is a really smart investment and increases over time 🔥make sure you keep dropping y’all’s cash app names so y’all can make smart money moves.”

Many celebrities have jumped aboard the crypto space lately whereas others have passively shown interest for a while now. Back in 2018, US rapper and actor 50 Cent claimed to have found his $8 million Bitcoin stash. Eminem also gave Bitcoin a shout out in his ‘Not Alike’ song from his tenth studio album Kamikaze.

On Wednesday, rapper Juicy J posted a tweet asking if Bitcoin was worth getting into. Anthony Pompliano replied to the tweet asking the Oscar-winning rapper to message him. Previously, Bitcoin’s adoption and price rally was mostly steered by institutional players. Music and movie celebrities are now outpouring love for Bitcoin while convincing their followers to do the same.
