During the recent Samsung REAL 2019 event held in Seoul, the CEO of Samsung SDS, Hong Hyeong-jin revealed the company’s plans to add blockchain technology onto its enterprise IT solution packages. At the event, Samsung unveiled ‘Digital Transformation Framework’ to induce digital transformation to corporate customers.
Some of the updates featured in the Digital Transformation Framework include, cloud security, intelligent enterprise and next generation ERP / SCM / IPA, intelligence factory and innovative technology platforms such as the Internet of things (IoT), blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI).
IoT and AI
According to Hong Hyeong-jin, the Digital Transformation Framework is the ultimate solution to the fact that digital conversion is emerging as a key element in quite a number of domestic and foreign companies. Well, Hong Hyeong-jin is right since the Digital Transformation Framework is a systematic organisation of enterprise IT integration solution that supports digital conversion of all business areas, including client’s production, managing, sales, and marketing systems.
‘’The artificial intelligence (AI) blockchain and internet of things (IoT) are innovative technologies for digital conversions. We have been researching and developing innovative technologies such as Bryant IoT for many years,’’ said Samsung SDS’ Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Apparently, the amount of data collected via IoT rises at the same rate as digital conversion. Additionally, the demand for AI as well as advanced computing power for processing increased data is growing.
Blockchain
Samsung SDS’s CEO also believes that blockchain technology can be implemented in all areas of business from finance, manufacturing, logistics, all the way to distribution. As stated by Hong, the company is upgrading its blockchain platform at Nexledger universal so as to meet the rise in demand.
‘’As digital convergence is accelerating, convergence services are expanding across industries. Blockchain technology is also being used in financials where payments are made through manufacturing and distribution. We will upgrade Nexledger to meet our customer needs,’’ said Hong.
According to Samsung SDS, Nexledger universal is a cloud-based blockchain platform that provides a standard application program interface (API) using its own consensus algorithm known as the Samsung SDS Nexledger Algorithm (NCA). It can also use Ethereum blockchains and the Hyperledger Fabric.
