With less than two months left in 2017, we’re waiting (some more enthusiastically than others) for snow fort season to begin. In the meantime, we’ve kept a clear focus on enhancing our platform for our 18+ million users around the world. Here are some of the newer team members helping us do just that and then some.
Rosana Castano, UX Designer
Back home in Madrid, Rosana graduated with a BA in Interior Design. Having always been interested in graphic design and technology, she learned HTML and CSS and began pursuing roles at the intersection of technology and design. Her future in UX Design was sealed after completing an Immersive User Experience course and diving into several collaborative freelance projects. Her four years at Sthree saw her impressively grow from a digital designer to managing the entire design team, and now she spends her time making sure our user experience is nothing short of awesome.
Beyond her creative spark, she also has a sense for adventure. As an Advanced PADI diver, she’s had the breathtaking experience of exploring a WWII wreck at more than 20 meters deep.
Maros Korinek, Platform Developer
Maros’ interest in programming inspired him to pursue his postgraduate education at the University of York, where he was mostly intrigued by distributed and data driven systems. He landed his first role at modern private jet firm, Stratajet, where he worked on their pricing engine. Following this, he helped build ThirdSpaceLearning’s teaching platform to connect students and tutors worldwide. His first intro to fintech was at Funding Circle, a leading global peer-to-peer lending marketplace.
Maros joins our team as a Platform Developer, and we’re excited to have his support and dedication to building a fair, decentralized financial future. We’re also incredibly jealous of that time he had lunch with Patrick Stewart. Yes, that actually happened.
Lauren Power, London Office Manager
Right out of high school, self-starter Lauren launched her own business specializing in makeup artistry for everything from weddings and special occasions to stage and tv. After an eventful 12 years as an entrepreneur, makeup artist and event planner, she relocated from Australia to the UK in pursuit of her next adventure. At the age of 30, Lauren decided to brave academia once again and is currently working on completing her Bachelor’s in Psychology at London Met University. Excitingly, she also plans on completing master’s and doctorate degrees.
As the self-proclaimed “Office Mum” to our London team, she goes above and beyond to keep the office a happy, productive place. For preventing us from descending into complete chaos, we’re eternally grateful.
Nicolas Cherence, Developer
From obscure heavy metal trivia to lighthouse ownership, our team is definitely a diverse bunch. And thanks to Nicolas, we can now add breakdancing to our list of collective talents. Nicolas initially began studying computer science in his free time. He joins our development team with a Bachelor’s in Applied Mathematics and a Master’s in Statistical and Financial Engineering. His experience in front and back end development helped him break into the London fintech scene, eventually making his way to the Blockchain team.
Nicolas also ran the Paris-Versailles race, an accomplishment our resident running team gives serious props for.
